Moroccan straw baskets and bags are made to be used: woven by hand from doum palm and wild palm leaf, finished with genuine leather, light to carry and different from one piece to the next. Our baskets and bags collection has 95 pieces, in four families. This guide helps you choose.
The four families
- Shoulder baskets – the largest family, from compact to extra-large, with long leather handles. Best for the beach, the market and everyday use.
- Hand-carried baskets – short handles and a wide opening, for shopping, picnics and relaxed days.
- Shoulder bags – small and medium handbags and crossbody bags, with flaps, twist locks and straps.
- Backpacks – six handwoven backpacks on leather straps, to keep both hands free.
Materials and craft
Doum palm gives a smooth, even weave; wild palm leaf looks more natural and a little irregular; sisal is used for rope-like handles; and every piece is finished with genuine leather. Our family has worked with these materials since 1962 – read more about us.
Sizes and colours
Across the collection, pieces measure from about 20 to 46 cm in length, 5 to 25 cm in width and 18 to 50 cm in height, and the baskets are named by size from S to XXL. Colours are camel, brown and natural, with a few in black. Each product page gives the exact dimensions.

How to decide
- For the beach or the market: a large shoulder basket.
- For shopping and picnics: a hand-carried basket with a wide opening.
- For the evening or the city: a straw shoulder or crossbody bag.
- For walking with both hands free: a straw backpack.

How to care for it
Keep the palm weave dry: avoid soaking it, and if it gets wet, shake off the water, shape it by hand and let it dry flat in the shade. When you are not using it, stuff it lightly with paper and store it away from damp. The leather is genuine leather, so it softens and darkens naturally with use and gains character over time.
Frequently asked questions
Are the pieces identical? No. Each piece is handmade, so dimensions and shades vary slightly, which is part of the charm.
Can I return an item? New, unused items in their original packaging can be returned under the withdrawal conditions on our delivery and returns page.
Where are they made? By hand in Morocco, in our family’s workshop.
